Job Summary:
The Massage Therapist is responsible for delivering exceptional therapeutic massage experiences that promote relaxation, restoration, and overall wellness at Poseidon Spa, located within the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook, Alabama.
We are seeking a licensed professional who combines technical expertise with genuine hospitality and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences. This individual will deliver personalized treatments while contributing to a luxury spa environment built on professionalism, wellness, teamwork, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of massage techniques including Swedish, deep tissue, sports, and other modalities based on client needs and preferences.
Conduct client consultations to understand individual wellness goals and tailor treatments accordingly.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas and treatment rooms in accordance with health and safety standards.
Keep accurate records of services provided and client preferences for future visits.
Uphold a professional and courteous manner at all times to create a relaxing and respectful environment.
Recommend additional treatments or wellness products based on client needs.
Adhere to appointment schedules and manage time effectively to avoid delays.
Stay current with industry trends, continuing education, and licensure requirements.
Follow all policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines of the facility.
Deliver personalized luxury guest experiences while anticipating guest needs and exceeding service expectations.
Maintain treatment rooms in accordance with established cleanliness, sanitation, operational, and presentation standards.
Participate in ongoing education, product knowledge, and service training.
Support fellow team members and contribute to a collaborative spa culture.
Promote spa services and retail products through genuine guest education and personalized recommendations.
Demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, and a positive attitude during all guest interactions.
Qualifications
Education & Licensing
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an accredited massage therapy program.
Current Alabama Massage Therapy License (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
Current CPR/AED certification preferred.
Experience
Previous experience in a luxury spa, resort, hotel, wellness, or hospitality environment is preferred but not required.
Experience performing customized therapeutic massage treatments utilizing Swedish massage, deep tissue, sports massage, prenatal massage, hot stone, or other therapeutic modalities is preferred.
New graduates with exceptional technical skills, professionalism, and a passion for hospitality are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements

Ability to safely perform massage services using proper body mechanics.
Ability to bend, reach, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
